Search for the best aftermarket Harley tour pack and Google hands you a Facebook group thread, a Reddit post, three forums and a wall of shop pages. The only real articles in the results are one store blog covering four products and a buying guide written in 2021. The AI summary at the top is built mostly from YouTube videos and a Facebook comment section.
That tells you where the useful information on a Harley Davidson tour pack has been living. So this guide is written from the same place: every owner review on 22 products, read page by page, with the parts that cost people money pulled out and named.
Three of those are worth knowing before you open a single listing:
- The trunk is not the purchase, it is one third of the purchase. Nearly every Amazon tour pack ships without the docking hardware and without the steel plate that goes inside the floor. Budget three items, not one.
- Nothing is drilled. The holes for the backrest and the luggage rack are dimples in the mould. No template is supplied, on any of them.
- The paint fear is the wrong fear. Every Harley-specific pack here arrives pre-painted gloss Vivid Black and owners say nobody spots it. The catch is that black is the only colour you get.
Below: what King, Chopped and Razor actually mean in inches, what fits your Street Glide or Road Glide, whether a full-face helmet goes in a chopped pack, how the tour pack light wires up, why the latch is a consumable, and 22 products grouped by what they are for.

The only Amazon king tour pack that ships the two-up rack and the inner base plate in the same box, which is the difference between one order and three. 70 litres, 13.7 inches deep, takes a full-face helmet. Inventory the box the day it arrives - missing parts are the one real risk with this listing.
What is actually in the box, and what is not
This is the section that saves you a second and third shipping wait. On a 2014-up Touring bike, a complete Harley tour pack installation is a chain of four parts, and an Amazon listing usually sells you one of them.
| Part | What it does | Included? | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4-point docking hardware | Bolts to the frame. The bike side of the system. | Almost never | $50 - $80 |
| Two-up mounting rack | The detachable tour pack rack that clips onto the docks. | Sometimes | $47 - $80 |
| Inner steel base plate | Spreads the bolt load so the ABS floor does not tear. | Never on the budget packs | $25 |
| The trunk itself | Shell, lid, latch, backrest, usually a top luggage rack. | Yes | $165 - $350 |
The listings say so themselves when you read the small print. TCMT: "Separate purchase of applicable Docking hardware is required. No install instructions." ECOTRIC, in capitals: "MOUNTING HARDWARE NOT INCLUDED."
The $25 part nobody includes and everybody recommends
The inner base plate is the single most repeated piece of advice in this entire category, across five different listings. It is a laser-cut steel plate that sits in the trunk floor and spreads the load of the mounting bolts, and without it the thin ABS flexes and eventually tears around the fasteners.
Owners keep telling each other, in review after review: "Make sure u buy separate plate for bottom." "I would purchase the support plate. Made a big difference." "I also bought a steel support plate for inside." It costs about $25. Put it in the same order.
Nothing is drilled, and there is no template
Every Harley-specific pack in this guide arrives with the mounting positions marked only as dimples in the moulding. Some listings state it outright: "Re drill the holes IS Required." Others let you find out.
The drill points for the mounting bracket are usually accurate and only need punching through. The backrest holes are the problem: on several packs they are not marked at all, and on others they do not line up. An owner: "There are a lot of predrilled holes in the unit, but none for the seat or the luggage rack. The marked holes do not line up for the luggage rack, so I suggest marking and making your own."
Measure four times. And seal every hole you drill, because no rubber washers are supplied and that is where the water gets in.
Missing parts are systemic, not bad luck
Read the one and two star reviews on the budget King packs and the same complaint repeats across different buyers of the same product. One TCMT buyer lists what was absent: "What is missing: -Direction -bolts -quick detachable rack -luggage rack - zero holes drilled for back rest." A second: "It was missing the tour pack luggage rack and the tour pack mount." A third: "Got the package missing parts the rack and the mounting bracket didn't come in."
Open the box the day it arrives and inventory it against the listing, while the return window is still open. This is the single most common way a cheap tour pack turns into an expensive one.
King, Chopped, Razor and Grand: what the names actually mean
These are the four sizes, and the difference between them is almost entirely one dimension: depth. Length and width stay within an inch or two across all of them, so from the side the difference you see is height, not footprint.
| Style | Depth | Plan size | What it carries |
|---|---|---|---|
| King tour pack | 13.7 in | ~20 x 25.7 in | Two full-face helmets with room. The two-up touring box. |
| Chopped tour pack | 10.7 in | ~21 x 25.9 in | Roughly three quarters of the King volume, much lower silhouette. |
| Razor tour pack | 5.5 in | ~20 x 25 in | Half helmets, rain gear, gloves. A lidded shelf with a backrest. |
| Grand American Touring | Wide 2024-up factory unit | OEM only | Not sold as an aftermarket shell on Amazon at all. |
King
The tall OEM-shaped box, around 70 litres. If you two-up, tour, or want to leave helmets with the bike, this is the one. It is also about 40 pounds empty before anything goes in it, which matters - see the weight section below.
Chopped
The best selling shape on Amazon, and the styling compromise most Street Glide owners land on. Three inches lower than a King, still 10.7 inches deep, still real storage. One owner on his experience of it: "1000 miles with the chopped pack. Lots of rain. Zero leaks. Very solid unit."
Razor
At 5.5 inches deep this is a day box. Owners describe it honestly: "holds 2 half helmets, rain gear, some beer koozies, gloves and a bottle opener with some room to spare." Another: "it will fit a whole 12 pack with plenty of room to spare."
The razor's real argument is the silhouette. And because the mount is quick-detach, several owners keep a King pack for long trips and clip the razor on for short runs. That is exactly what the detachable rack is for.
Grand
The wide Grand American Touring Tour-Pak on 2024-up bikes has no aftermarket shell on Amazon. The only reference to it in this whole research set is a docking rack owner confirming his kit lines up with a factory one. If you want that look, you are buying OEM or going direct to a premium brand.
Will it fit your bike? Street Glide, Road Glide, Road King and the rest
Almost every tour pack for Street Glide and Road Glide riders on Amazon is sold with the same fitment line: 2014 and later Touring, covering Road King, Road Glide, Street Glide, Electra Glide, Ultra Classic and selected CVO. That covers most of the market. The exceptions are where the money gets lost.
Street Glide tour pack and Road Glide tour pack fitment
A Street Glide tour pack and a Road Glide tour pack are the same part. Both bikes use the identical 2014-up Touring mounting pattern, so any pack in this guide listed for FLHX or FLTRX fits either one. What differs is not the pack, it is the antenna - see below.
Road King tour pack fitment
A Road King tour pack uses the same mounting again, and the Road King is the one model where the pack changes the character of the bike most visibly, turning a stripped cruiser into a tourer. Road King owners are also the group most likely to want the pack off again at weekends, which is the argument for the detachable rack rather than a rigid mount.
Pre-2014 bikes
The 2014 cut-off is real. The Rushmore redesign changed the mounting pattern, and a 2014-up pack will not simply bolt to a 2009 bike. There is one pack in this guide aimed specifically at 1997-2013 Touring models, and it is worth choosing it rather than modifying a newer one.
The antenna problem on Street Glide and Road Glide
This one catches people. Fitting a two-up detachable rack to a Street Glide or Road Glide puts the rack exactly where the AM/FM antenna lives. The mount listings state it plainly: these models "require Hidden AM/FM/WB Antenna P/N 76000513 or Antenna Relocation Kit P/N 76000582." An owner of a 70L King pack found out at fitting time: "i will have to order a stubby antenea as this does not accomadate the factory one."
Price the antenna kit in before you start, not after.
CVO models
CVO frames use a wider bracket. A 2017 CVO Street Glide owner on a chopped pack: "Mounting bracket does not fit a CVO 2017 street glide. Bracket is only 10 inches wide. CVO needs 12 inches." Check the bracket width, not just the model list.
Softail, Lowrider ST and non-Touring frames
Plenty of owners fit these packs to bikes they were never listed for, using a different mount. A Lowrider ST owner bolted a universal 50L box to a HogWorkz mount. A Fat Boy owner: "I had to modify / redrill to fit my detachable mount for my 2009 Fat Boy - knew that going in." One owner even fitted a Harley-pattern trunk to an Indian.
It works, but you are buying a shell and solving the mounting yourself. Go in expecting that.
Road Glide 3 and trikes
Trikes are covered by the relocator kits rather than by different packs. If passenger room is the issue, a relocator plate moves the pack back one to three inches without changing anything else.
Can you fit a helmet in a chopped tour pack?
This is one of the questions Google itself puts on the results page, and the marketing answers it badly. The honest answer comes from the depth figures plus what owners actually report.
- King, 13.7 inches deep. Two full-face helmets, confirmed repeatedly. One owner: "the space is massive. Could easily have 2 full face with lots of room to spare." Another: "I travel a lot and this fits a full helmet comes off quickly."
- Chopped, 10.7 inches deep. A full-face helmet will usually go in lying on its side, because 10.7 inches is close to the width of most full-face shells. But no owner review found on Amazon actually confirms it, and it will certainly not take two. Owners describe the chopped pack in terms of clothing, jackets and travel gear rather than helmets, which is itself informative.
- Razor, 5.5 inches deep. Half helmets. Both the owners and the sellers say so.
The useful test: measure your own helmet across its widest point and compare it with those three depth figures. That will tell you more than any listing claim. If carrying two full-face helmets is the actual job, buy a King pack and stop thinking about it.
Paint: the fear that turns out to be wrong, and the one that is real
The most common worry about an aftermarket Harley tour pack is that it arrives in primer and you are left with a paint bill. Across 22 products researched, that is not what happens. Every Harley-specific pack here ships pre-painted gloss Vivid Black, and owners are consistent about the quality of it.
A Street Glide owner: "The fit is perfect, it comes with a liner, and the black finish matches the original vivid black perfectly." A King pack buyer: "This is a quality after market product. the paint is high quality. no one has noticed that is not original."
The real catch: black is the only colour
That is where the premium brands earn their money. Advanblack, HogWorkz and Mocardine sell the pack already matched to your bike's factory colour. Amazon sells you black.
One owner puts the decision in a single line: "They may offer other limited colors, but if you have a vivid black Harley, there's no need to spend extra at Hogworks, Advanblack, or Harley." That is the whole calculus. Black bike, buy Amazon. Any other colour, either accept a black pack as a contrast piece or budget a respray.
If you are painting it yourself
The ABS takes paint well. An owner who repainted a chopped pack: "The shell material took primer, base, and clear coat effortlessly. It sanded down evenly with minimal prep work required." Another did a rattle-can colour match on a universal box and reported the cost: "Six cans of spray paint and two cans of clearcoat."
The generic universal boxes are the ones actually sold as bare shells, described in their own listings as ready for custom paint. If a respray is the plan anyway, start with one of those rather than paying for gloss black you are about to sand off.
One warning about the factory clear
The clear coat on these packs is soft. An owner: "I went to remove a little speck that was on it. Used my fingernail lightly, very lightly, and it left a mark on the paint." Wash it, do not pick at it.
Tour pack lights: what wiring one actually involves
Almost no Amazon Harley tour pack comes with a light. Of the twelve trunks in this guide, only one universal box has an integrated tail light, and that one has no Harley connector and no diagram. On a Harley the tour pack light is a separate purchase of about $50, and how hard it is to fit depends entirely on one question.
Ask this first: did your bike ever have a Tour-Pak from the factory?
If yes: there is a connector waiting for you, and the swap is close to plug and play. Budget the light and nothing else.
If no: there is literally no wiring at the tailbox location. The harness listing says it outright: "For Models not originally equipped with a Tour Luggage Pack, a separate purchase of the Tour Luggage Pack Quick Disconnect Wiring Harness is necessary, as the tailbox location lacks pre-installed wiring." You need two harnesses, not one: the in-pack harness at about $34, plus a quick-disconnect run from the tail lamp connector under the seat.
The 5-pin against 6-pin trap
The connector count is not consistent. An owner who bought both the light and the matching pigtail: "Pigtail is 6 pin which works with bike. Light is a 5 pin. So had to cut and solder. Please be aware these are a 5 pin plug on light. Causes a bit of a headache. Certainly not plug and play."
These kits ship with no instructions at all. The only wiring documentation that exists is what owners have posted in the reviews themselves - one of them published the full pin-out, which is more than the manufacturer did.
Hyper flash and the body control module
Aftermarket LED tour pack lights do not talk to the Harley BCM. An owner: "Does not sync to Harley BCM, soldered in load equalizers to eliminate hyper flash indicators and even still brake light does not flash hazards unless the bike is running." Budget load equalisers as part of the job, not as a surprise.
And you will be cutting a hole in a new trunk
If the pack did not come pre-cut for a light bar, fitting one means cutting the square harness opening yourself, in a shell you just paid for. Some packs arrive already cut for the light, antenna and speakers - which is convenient if you want all three and a leak path if you do not.
Tour pack speakers and speaker pods
Harley tour pack speakers are one of the most searched accessories in this whole category, and the aftermarket route is dramatically cheaper than the colour-matched alternatives. A pair of 6.5 inch speaker pods for a Harley tour pack, complete with grilles, rings and drivers, runs about $110 against $229 and up for the colour-matched versions.
What you get for that: 4 ohm drivers, 30W, 92dB sensitivity. Not audiophile parts, and owners are clear-eyed about it. One: "Speakers aren't the best sounding, and if you replace them" - the housings are shallow, so swapping in better drivers usually needs spacer rings. Another takes the pragmatic view: "For adding these to a tour pack that didn't have any speakers it's the cheaper way to go and always able to add better speakers later."
Three things to know before you order
- No harness, no mounting hardware. The listing says so. You wire the speakers back to the Boom Box amplifier yourself.
- You are cutting two large holes in the sides of a tour pack you just bought. There is no going back from that, so decide before you fit anything else.
- 2014 and later with a Boom Box system only. A buyer who missed that: "I didn't see that it was for '14 and up. I had to send mine back."
And the connected warning from the leak section: a trunk variant that comes pre-cut for speakers has vents in those cutouts, and those vents let rain in. If you are not fitting speakers, buy the variant without the holes.
Harley tour pack latch failure: the one part you should budget to replace
Across every price point in this category, the Harley tour pack latch is the number one failure. It is worth its own section because it is the one part that turns a good pack into a dangerous one, and because the fix is cheap.
Three ways it goes
1. The lid pops open on the road. Even locked. Owners describe this as a safety issue and they are right. "Eventually the lid started to rattle. Now the lid does not stay shut. If I hit a moderate bump, the lid will pop open, even with a passenger." Another: "Shortly into the ride the tour pak, while locked, popped open. The latch was defective." A third: "when latched and locked can still be opened by pushing on the lid or when riding comes open."
2. The lock cylinder fails. Keys crack, tumblers drop, and the pack has to be drilled open. One owner: "After locking it for the first time it would not unlock correctly. The key was so cheap that it actually cracked."
3. It corrodes off. On the cheapest universal boxes: "Lasts a few months then starts rusting away until finally the piece that latches down breaks off entirely."
This is not only a cheap-trunk problem
Here is the detail that reframes the whole category. The best evidence for the $60 aftermarket replacement latch does not come from budget trunk owners. It comes from people fixing premium packs with it.
An Advanblack owner: "This replaced a loose latch that kept coming open on my Advanblack tour pack. This latch bolted right up and latches perfectly as it should." A HogWorkz owner: "This fit perfectly and is an exact match to the Hogworx it replaced. So far so good after 1500 miles."
What to do about it
- Budget for a replacement latch as part of the build, not as a repair. A zinc alloy kit with latch, two hinges, lock and keys is about $60.
- Get one that takes a Harley lock barrel so one key runs the bike and the pack.
- Ride with it locked, not just latched. Several owners report the lid opening when only latched.
- If the lid starts to rattle, replace the latch immediately. Rattling is the warning that comes before it opens at speed.
- Note that a twin-latch lid needs two kits.
Tour pack liners: the cheap upgrade that fits every brand
A Harley tour pack liner does three things: it stops gear sliding around, it kills a lot of the drumming noise from a big empty ABS box, and it protects the paint on whatever you put inside. A pair for a King pack costs under $50 on Amazon against $149 to $185 for the premium versions.
The reason that price gap exists is that they all fit the same box. King packs from Harley, Advanblack and HogWorkz share the same internal dimensions, so a liner cut for one fits the others. An Advanblack owner: "This liner fit my Advanblack king tour pack just right. Big savings over other options that appear identical." A HogWorkz owner: "I have a Hogworkz king tour pack, the dimensions are the same as a HD king tour pack."
Two practical notes from owners. The supplied velcro is short - "the roll of Velcro is only enough to go around either the bottom or the lid liner all the way around, not both" - so buy a roll separately. And the liners are cut for King packs, not for Chopped or Razor.
Weight limit and handling: the mount is the constraint, not the box
The numbers in the listings do not agree with each other, and the difference matters.
- The mounting rack is rated at 50 to 55 pounds, depending on whether you read the bullet or the specification table on the same listing.
- The trunk claims a 40 kg load capacity, roughly 88 pounds.
The mount is the binding limit. Whatever the plastic box claims it can hold, the steel rack it hangs from is rated at around 50 pounds and that is the number to use.
Then add the pack itself. A King tour pack weighs about 40 pounds empty. Load it to the rack's limit and you have roughly 90 pounds hanging off the highest and furthest-back point of the motorcycle. That is why Harley and every mount maker publish limits this low.
What owners do not tell us
Amazon reviews give almost no direct evidence on handling. Riders who notice a loaded pack changing how the bike behaves do not tend to write it in a product review. Rather than invent that, here is what the physics and the weight distribution actually imply:
- Load heavy items low, in the saddlebags. Keep the tour pack for bulky light gear: rain suits, jackets, helmets.
- Fit the inner steel base plate before you carry any weight. This is where the thin floor tears.
- Do not load the top luggage rack on a budget shell. Several owners say they will not put anything on it, and the shell thickness is why.
- Wind at speed with a tall King pack is a real effect, and it is a reason some owners keep a razor pack for solo runs.
Harley Davidson tour pack price: Amazon, aftermarket brands or OEM
The three tiers are far apart, and the owners in this research are unusually explicit about which one they chose and why.
| Route | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon shell | $165 - $350 | Vivid Black only. You add docking hardware, base plate, and every hole. |
| Advanblack | ~$630 - $700 | Factory colour matching, more complete kit. |
| HogWorkz | ~$850 - $990 | Showroom-quality ABS, heavy mounting plate, full backrest. |
| Harley OEM | $1,100 - $2,500 | Chopped Tour-Pak from about $1,100, Grand Tour-Pak at about $2,500. |
The real Amazon total
Do not compare a $250 trunk with a $990 HogWorkz kit, because that is not the comparison. A realistic Amazon build is the trunk at $210 to $300, a mount or docking kit at $47 to $80, and the inner base plate at $25. Call it $290 to $400 all in. That is still hundreds under Advanblack and a fraction of OEM, and it is the honest number.
What owners who have compared them say
- A King pack buyer: "All in all, I saved about $1,700 going with this trunk setup instead of the OEM."
- A Road Glide owner: "A fraction of the cost of OEM and a lot less that HogWorks. Not as good of quality, but I only use it for bout 3000 miles a year."
- A Lowrider ST owner who mounted an $80 universal box to a HogWorkz rack: "for $80 vs $800, hard to argue."
- And the buyer who hit the missing-parts problem and changed his mind: "At this point it may be worth spending the money for the Harley one."
The honest split
Buy Amazon if your bike is Vivid Black, you own a drill, and you accept that the box may arrive short a part and you will be dealing with a marketplace seller about it.
Go direct to Advanblack, HogWorkz or Mocardine if you need a colour match, you want a genuinely complete kit, or you want a company that answers the phone when something is missing. That last one is exactly what generates the one and two star Amazon reviews.
Buy Amazon for the accessories regardless of which pack you own. Latches, liners, base plates, light kits, speaker pods, mounts and wall racks all fit Advanblack, HogWorkz and OEM packs identically, because they all copy the same Harley dimensions. HogWorkz owners buying $60 Amazon latches is a documented, repeated behaviour in these reviews.
Mistakes that cost people money
- Ordering the trunk and nothing else. The docking hardware and the base plate are separate. Three orders, one shipment window.
- Skipping the $25 inner base plate. The floor flexes, the bolt holes tear, and the backrest pulls out of unreinforced plastic.
- Buying the variant with speaker holes when you are not fitting speakers. Those vented cutouts are the main documented leak path. One owner: "Vents are provided for the two speaker holes but rain will pour in during a wet ride."
- Not checking the floor for unused holes. One pack arrived with twenty of them: "There are 20 unused holes in the bottom of the trunk and 2 in the lid that allow water to run through the trunk. Holes can be plugged with Body Filler and painted but no plugs are provided."
- Not sealing the holes you drill. No rubber washers are supplied. RTV sealant costs a few dollars and is the difference between dry gear and wet gear.
- Forgetting the antenna on a Street Glide or Road Glide. The rack goes where the antenna is. Budget the hidden or relocation kit.
- Ignoring a rattling lid. That is the latch telling you it is about to open at 70 mph.
- Loading the top luggage rack on a thin budget shell. Do not.
- Not inventorying the box on day one. Missing parts are common enough here to be expected, and the return window is short.
The 22 best aftermarket Harley tour packs and accessories
Grouped by what they are for rather than ranked one to twenty-two, because a King pack, a docking kit and a replacement latch are not competing with each other. Every price, rating and review quoted was checked on the product page.
A note on scope, stated plainly. The premium brands in this category - Advanblack, HogWorkz, Mocardine, Dirty Bird - sell direct from their own sites and are not on Amazon. What Amazon has is the budget and mid-price shells, and the entire hardware and accessory ecosystem, which fits every brand of pack including the premium ones. Both are covered below.
King tour packs: the full-size, two-helmet box
13.7 inches deep, roughly 70 litres, and the only style that reliably takes two full-face helmets. If you tour, ride two-up, or want to leave your lids with the bike, start here. Remember that none of these include the docking hardware and only one includes the base plate.

XMT-MOTO 70L King Tour Pack with Two-Up Rack and Base Plate
King tour pack, 70 L. 20 in long x 13.7 in deep x 25.7 in wide. Pre-painted Vivid Black ABS, black keyed latch.
Fits: Harley Touring 2014-2025 Road King, Road Glide, Street Glide, Electra Glide and select CVO. Check your year and model before ordering.
The one Amazon kit that ships the parts everything else leaves out. Two-up detachable mounting rack, inner base plate, top luggage rack, wrap-around backrest and a carpet liner, all in the same box as the trunk. Everywhere else in this guide those are three separate orders.
That alone makes it the sensible starting point, and the reports from owners who got a complete box are strong. A 2022 Street Glide Special owner: "This fit absolutely perfect so so much cheaper than buying directly from Harley and paying just for the name. I travel a lot and this fits a full helmet comes off quickly." Another: "Great looking tour pack, identical to OEM for a fraction of the price."
70 litres and 13.7 inches deep puts it in genuine King territory, and the wrap-around backrest rather than a small pad is the right choice for two-up riding.
Now the honest part, and it is the reason for the 4.1 rating rather than a higher one. Missing parts show up in these reviews more than they should: "Missing chrome rack and base plate for your pack." One owner's supplied rack did not fit the 2018 Road Glide the listing named and he bought a $209 replacement. There is no drilling template and no instructions of any kind. And there is no wiring harness, which one buyer flags directly.
Buy it, then inventory the box against the listing the day it lands, while you can still return it.

XMT-MOTO Vivid Black King Tour Pack, 2014-2025 Touring
King tour pack. 27.56 x 22.44 x 20.47 in outer, 33 lb, 40 kg stated load. Pre-painted gloss Vivid Black ABS, keyed latch.
Fits: 2014 and later Harley Touring - Road King, Road Glide, Street Glide, Electra Glide, Ultra Classic. Owners also report fitting it to Softail, Sport Glide and Indian frames with the right mount.
The best rated King pack in this roundup, and the paint is the reason people keep it. Trunk, backrest, luggage rack and latch in the box. No mounting rack, no base plate, no docking hardware.
The most useful review here does the arithmetic for you. An owner who mounted it to an Indian: "All in all, I saved about $1,700 going with this trunk setup instead of the OEM and it will be fully functional and ready for my next road trip after some very minor waterproofing." Another, more simply: "Can not tell the difference in this or the OEM model. You will need to order the metal backing plate and the mounting hardware for this."
Note that both of those owners say the same thing about what is missing.
Three practical warnings. Nothing is drilled - not the backrest, not the dock: "No holes drilled for the back rest or the dock." The luggage rack holes did not match the trunk for one owner and needed a bench vise to persuade. And it is not sealed as delivered: "I had to order some black RTV sealant to touch up where the holes were drilled for the luggage rack because there were no rubber washers included."
One rating of concern in the reviews, and it is the category's standard failure: a lid that "when latched and locked can still be opened by pushing on the lid or when riding comes open." Budget the replacement latch.
What owners say: “All in all, I saved about $1,700 going with this trunk setup instead of the OEM and it will be fully functional and ready for my next road trip after some very minor waterproofing. - Mitch P”

TCMT King Tour Pack with Backrest and Mounting Rack
King tour pack. 20 in long x 13.7 in deep x 25.7 in wide. Backrest 22 x 25.8 in, luggage rack 20.3 x 14 in. Gloss black ABS.
Fits: 2014 and later Road King, Road Glide, Street Glide, Electra Glide Standard, select CVO and 2021-later FLH. Does NOT fit FLRT. Docking hardware is a separate purchase.
This one earns its place for what it says rather than what it hides. The listing is explicit on all three of the things that catch buyers out: docking hardware is a separate purchase, the holes must be re-drilled for both the top rack and the backrest, and no install instructions are supplied. The fitment table goes down to individual model codes including FLTRXST and FLHXST for 2022-2023.
It also includes the two-up mounting rack as well as the top luggage rack, which most packs at this price do not. And it is a variant without speaker holes, so there are no vents for rain to come through.
A 2020 Road Glide owner sums up the trade honestly: "A fraction of the cost of OEM and a lot less that HogWorks. Took some measuring to mount the Lugage rack and mounting plate. Measure 4 times, drill once. Not as good of quality, but I only use it for bout 3000 miles a year."
The rating is 3.9 and the reason is not the product design, it is fulfilment. Three separate buyers report the same shortage. "What is missing: -Direction -bolts -quick detachable rack -luggage rack - zero holes drilled for back rest." "It was missing the tour pack luggage rack and the tour pack mount." "Got the package missing parts the rack and the mounting bracket didn't come in."
One of them draws the conclusion that ought to be on every listing in this category: "At this point it may be worth spending the money for the Harley one."
Only 20 ratings, so treat that sample with care - but check the box on arrival.

XFMT 13.7 in King Tour Pack, Vivid Black with Chrome Latches
King tour pack. 20 in long x 13.7 in deep x 25.7 in wide. Vivid Black ABS, chrome keyed latch and chrome top rail. Free liner.
Fits: 2014 and later Harley Touring - Road King, Road Glide, Street Glide, Electra Glide, Ultra Classic. Sold in variants WITH and WITHOUT speaker holes - read the variant carefully.
The chrome-hardware King pack, and the cheapest full-size option here at around $250. Wrap-around backrest with upper and lower cushions, free carpet liner, chrome latches and chrome top rail rather than black.
Where it gets good: "This is a quality after market product. I bought it to replace our original tour pak which broke from operator error. the fit of the pre drilled holes was perfect. the paint is high quality. no one has noticed that is not original."
Where it goes wrong is the variant question, and this is the listing that makes the case for reading it twice. Some versions arrive with the light bar, antenna and speaker holes already cut. A 2015 Street Glide owner: "it has holes cut for light bar (I could live with this), an antennae (big square hole at the base in the rear of the pack) and two large holes for what I assume are speakers facing forward. Vents are provided for the two speaker holes but rain will pour in during a wet ride." Another buyer, at one star: "So many holes. I would never recommend this product for anybody."
If you are fitting a light bar, an antenna and speakers, those cuts save you a lot of work. If you are not, you have bought a colander.
Two more things. The lid tether broke for one owner within seconds of first opening. And the supplied inner pan on one unit was flat rather than contoured, so the liner no longer fitted.
What owners say: “This is a quality after market product. the fit of the pre drilled holes was perfect. the paint is high quality. no one has noticed that is not original. - Craig B.”

ECOTRIC King Tour Pack for 1997-2013 Harley Touring
King tour pack. 25.5 in long x 20.5 in wide x 13.5 in high. Moulded ABS, chrome metal top rail, wrap-around vinyl backrest.
Fits: 1997-2013 Harley Touring with fixed or detachable mounts. On some 2009-up models the base bolt pattern may not match the rack. MOUNTING HARDWARE NOT INCLUDED - the listing says so in capitals.
Included for one reason: it is the only King pack in this guide aimed at pre-2014 Touring bikes. The 2014 Rushmore redesign changed the mounting pattern, and if you ride a 2009 Street Glide the newer packs will not simply bolt on. This one will.
Space is not in question: "the space is massive. Could easily have 2 full face with lots of room to spare." It comes with a full wrap-around vinyl backrest, a chrome top rail and a free carpet liner, and it replaces the factory chrome top rail part 53665-87.
It is also the lowest rated product in this entire guide at 3.2 stars, and the reasons are consistent enough to take seriously.
The latches fail early and often. "Locking mechanism on the tour pack broke within the first 50 miles. The two clips holding the lid shut are cheap plastic and pop open." "1st ride rear latch fell apart front latch is loose and rattles." A hinge pin fell out on one bike.
The shell is thin: "Plastic thin and flimsy, none of the holes lined up and had to drill."
And there is a design fault worth knowing before you buy: "The key can not be removed unless the lock is locked, meaning you can't leave it unlocked and only held by the latches for easy access while riding."
Finally, twenty unused holes in the floor and two in the lid, with no plugs supplied. Plan on body filler and paint, or a different pack if you have the budget.
Buy it if you own a pre-2014 bike and you accept that the latch is going in the bin. Otherwise look at the 2014-up options above.
What owners say: “the space is massive. Could easily have 2 full face with lots of room to spare. - Dave Jensen”

Chopped and Razor: lower profile, same footprint
Chopped at 10.7 inches is the styling compromise most owners land on and the best selling shape on Amazon. Razor at 5.5 inches is a day box for half helmets and rain gear. Both use the same mounting system as a King pack, so you can own two shells and swap them.

TCT-MOTORPARTS Chopped Tour Pack with Detachable Two-Up Rack
Chopped tour pack. 20 in long x 10.7 in deep x 25.7 in wide, 30.8 lb. Vivid Black ABS. Includes detachable two-up mounting rack and mat liner.
Fits: 2014-2025 Harley Touring FLHR, FLHRC, FLHRSE, FLHX, FLHXS, FLHXSE, FLTRX and FLTRXS. Re-drilling required. Inner base plate not included.
The chopped pack with the best rain evidence in the whole research set, and that is not a small thing in a category where leaking is the standard complaint. An owner: "1000 miles with the chopped pack. Lots of rain. Zero leaks. Very solid unit. Color looks great. Hardware was correct. Support base is very nice."
10.7 inches deep against the King's 13.7, same footprint, distinctly lower silhouette. The detachable two-up mounting rack is in the box, which is more than most packs at this price manage.
Another owner who went in expecting the known problems and did not find them: "I read reviews about the loose latch and the holes not lining up for the bracket. I did not experience those issues, mine was perfect. It's also built better and thicker than I thought."
On drilling, the split is the usual one and an owner explains it well: "you have to drill the holes out for the mounting bracket but they are pre drilled so just have to punch them through. But the seat you have to drill the holes yourself and line them up."
Two cautions. The paint is soft enough to mark with a fingernail - one owner had to buff out a light scratch made while removing a speck of dirt. And the inner base plate is not included, which every owner in these reviews mentions: "Make sure u buy separate plate for bottom."
Black only, and the owners are relaxed about it: "Yes I'd prefer full color match.... But black goes with my bike enough to not look stupid."
What owners say: “1000 miles with the chopped pack. Lots of rain. Zero leaks. Very solid unit. Color looks great. Hardware was correct. - lakearea”

TCT-MOTORPARTS Chopped Tour Pack with Chrome Two-Up Rack
Chopped tour pack. 21.6 x 10.7 x 25.9 in. ABS shell, steel chrome detachable two-up mounting rack, mat liner.
Fits: 2014-2025 Harley Touring - Road King, Road Glide, Street Glide, Electra Glide, Ultra Classic. NOT CVO: the bracket is 10 in wide and a CVO needs 12 in. Re-drilling required.
The chrome-rack version of the chopped pack, and the cheapest chopped shell here at around $210 with the two-up mounting rack included.
The verdict most people are looking for, from a five-star owner: "The fit is perfect, it comes with a liner, and the black finish matches the original vivid black perfectly. It also comes with three keys. While it doesn't have predrilled holes, the outlined spots for drilling are accurate and easy."
The same owner then writes the sentence that decides this whole category for a lot of readers: "They may offer other limited colors, but if you have a vivid black Harley, there's no need to spend extra at Hogworks, Advanblack, or Harley."
If your bike is not Vivid Black, this shell is also the best documented repaint candidate here. An owner who did it: "The shell material took primer, base, and clear coat effortlessly. It sanded down evenly with minimal prep work required, making the custom paint job turn out incredibly clean."
The hard exclusion is CVO. A 2017 CVO Street Glide owner: "Mounting bracket does not fit a CVO 2017 street glide. Bracket is only 10 inches wide. CVO needs 12 inches." He also got no reply from the seller, which is the recurring Amazon-versus-direct trade in this category.
As with every chopped pack here, the inner base plate is a separate $25 purchase and you should not skip it.

XMT-MOTO Razor Tour Pack with Backrest, Liner and Rack
Razor tour pack, sold in Low Profile, Standard and TALL heights on the same listing. Vivid Black ABS, chrome or black keyed latch, three keys.
Fits: Harley Touring 2014-2025 Road King, Road Glide, Street Glide, Electra Glide Standard and select CVO. No bolts supplied for trunk to plate, no inner reinforcement plate.
The best rated low-profile pack here, and the highest review count of any razor-style trunk in this guide. Liner and two-up mounting rack in the box at around $200.
What a razor pack is actually for, from an owner who is not overselling it: "Love the look... holds 2 half helmets, rain gear, some beer koozies, gloves and a bottle opener with some room to spare."
The height options matter. It is sold as Low Profile, Standard and Tall under the same listing, so you can tune how much of a shelf you want. A 2025 Street Glide owner on clearance: "It has just enough height for clearance to allow the saddlebag lids to open on my 2025 Street glide without interference."
The install is straightforward if you buy the plate. An owner: "No bolts to mount, but I ordered a plate as others have suggested. The plate came with the mounting hardware so I had everything needed to drill and install in about 30 minutes." Another: "The spots where the bolts go for the base and backrest is spot on. Just drill them out 1st. I would purchase the support plate. Made a big difference."
The failure to watch for is the same one as everywhere else, and here it is well documented. One owner at one star: "Eventually the lid started to rattle. Now the lid does not stay shut. If I hit a moderate bump, the lid will pop open, even with a passenger." Another had a defective latch pop open early in a ride, though the seller sent a replacement.
Same owner also notes the material honestly: "I have compared it to those that have OEM and the material in this is much thinner and more flexible."
And there is no support plate behind the backrest, which is another argument for the $25 steel plate.
What owners say: “Love the look... holds 2 half helmets, rain gear, some beer koozies, gloves and a bottle opener with some room to spare. - JR Westberg”

ECOTRIC 5.5 in Razor Tour Pack for 2014-2024 Harley Touring
Razor tour pack, 5.5 in deep. ABS trunk, synthetic leather and foam backrest, chrome hardware, star lock with two keys.
Fits: 2014-2024 CVO Road Glide, Tri Glide, Electra Glide, Street Glide, Ultra Limited, Road King. Owners also fit it to Lowrider ST and Softail. Mounting brackets NOT included.
The cheapest razor pack here at $165, and the one that goes on the most different bikes. Slim enough that Lowrider ST and Softail owners fit it as well as Touring riders.
A 2010 Street Glide owner: "Fit my 2010 street glide and looks like it was meant to be there. I would highly recommend buying the plate that mounts on the inside as well as it makes the whole assembly rock solid." A 2019 Street Glide owner: "It fits my '19 Street Glide like a glove. Very sturdy construction, quality hinges and rivets holding them in place."
Capacity, in the units this category actually uses: "Another plus is it will fit a whole 12 pack with plenty of room to spare."
Four mounting holes are pre-drilled in the base, which is more than most packs here manage, though the top bracket holes still need drilling and the backrest holes are in the wrong place on some units.
The latch is the weak point and it is worse here than on the pricier razor above. "The latches are completely cheap as well and do not hold the top and bottom together well either. After locking it for the first time it would not unlock correctly. The key was so cheap that it actually cracked." Another owner had the quick-disconnect spring mechanism snap while removing the pack.
Worth noting on the other side: one owner whose latch broke after a year emailed the company and had a replacement sent free. That is better service than several sellers in this category manage.
Buy it as the cheap second shell to swap onto the quick-detach mount for short runs, and budget the replacement latch from the start.

Universal top boxes: the cheap route, and the paint blank
These bolt to any flat 8 by 8 inch luggage rack pad rather than to Harley docking points, which makes them the answer for a Softail, a Lowrider ST or anything else without factory tour pack mounting. They are also the shells people buy deliberately to repaint, since they arrive as plain black plastic. Around $88 rather than $250.

EGO Bike 50L Universal Motorcycle Trunk with Top Rack and Backrest
Universal top box, 50 L. Inner 21 x 14.5 x 10 in, outer 22 x 15.5 x 11 in. Top rack 18 x 9 in. Gloss black, keyed lock, two keys.
Universal. Bolts to any flat 8 x 8 in luggage rack pad - Harley, Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki cruisers. You still need a rack or mount on the bike.
Over a thousand reviews, which is more than any actual tour pack in this guide, and it costs $88. That is the whole proposition.
It is not a Harley pack. It bolts to a flat luggage rack rather than to Harley docking points, which makes it the answer for a Softail, a Lowrider ST or anything without factory tour pack mounting. And at this price it is the shell people buy specifically to repaint.
An owner who did exactly that: "I didn't keep the original black color, I sent it down and repainted it as close as possible to my own bikes color. Six cans of spray paint and two cans of clearcoat." That is the real cost of a colour match if you do it yourself.
Another owner is clear-eyed about what you get: "Holes are easy to drill, and can be located from opening the unit for both bottom mount and rack on top. Smaller than a stock harley tour pak, but MANY hundreds of dollars less. Nice gloss black finish."
Two problems come up repeatedly. The hardware is the weak link: "the hardware provided, including the locking latch is absolute garbage" and, from the same owner, "The latch is the third one I've purchased... Lasts a few months then starts rusting away until finally the piece that latches down breaks off entirely." And the top rack corrodes: "The luggage rack pictured is rusting right out of the box."
The shell also flexes and does not seal. One owner solved it himself: "I attached some rubber seal around the lid so the water doesn't get it."
Treat it as a $88 plastic box that needs $60 of latch and some rubber seal. At that total it still undercuts everything else here.
What owners say: “Smaller than a stock harley tour pak, but MANY hundreds of dollars less. Nice gloss black finish, chrome rack on top. - Jerry H”

KUAFU 50L Universal Motorcycle Trunk with Integrated Tail Light
Universal top box, 50 L with a built-in running and brake light. Inner 21 x 14.5 x 10 in. ABS and steel, keyed lock, mounting hardware included.
Universal - Harley, Honda, Yamaha, Indian, Suzuki, Kawasaki cruisers. You must already have a luggage rack on the bike. No Harley plug, you splice into the loom.
The only sub-$100 box in this guide with a tail light built in, which on paper solves the whole lighting problem covered earlier in this guide. In practice it half solves it.
The light works as a running light and a brake light. What it does not have is a Harley connector or a wiring diagram. An owner: "Wiring is incomplete and unclear I'm yet to find a way to tamper stock wiring to use the stop & blinker connectors." You are splicing into the loom, and you are working it out yourself.
The rest is the familiar universal box story with one advantage: the mounting hardware set is actually included, unlike most of the Harley-specific packs costing three times as much. The listing states it holds one full-face helmet.
The honest owner assessment: "There are no installation instructions included so you will have to wing it. The pre-drilled holes at the bottom of the case did not line up properly with my rack so I had to drill holes to mount it." Another put it more memorably: "if you're not half engineer and half redneck you better get a professional."
Two specific traps. It will not open if you leave a sissy bar on the rack: "The case will not fit or open if there is a sissy bar on your rack. Removal of mine was a royal PIA." And the listed dimensions are transposed - an owner measured it and found the 22 inches is the width, not the length.
The backrest angle is also wrong for some riders, with far more padding at the top than the bottom.
What owners say: “There are no installation instructions included so you will have to wing it. The pre-drilled holes at the bottom of the case did not line up properly with my rack so I had to drill holes to mount it. - Robert L. Ray Jr.”

ECOTRIC 50L Universal Motorcycle Trunk with Top Rack and Backrest
Universal top box, 50 L. Inner 21 x 14.5 x 10 in, outer 22 x 15.5 x 11 in. Plastic shell, steel top rack, keyed lock.
Universal - bolts to any 8 x 8 in flat luggage rack pad. Harley, Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Shadow, Vulcan. Assembly instructions only, no bike-specific fitting instructions.
The same 21 by 14.5 by 10 inch moulding as the two boxes above, under a third brand, and the review that best explains why anyone buys one comes from a Lowrider ST owner: "It's not a high end tour pack, but it fits the size of my Lowrider ST. I painted mine and mounted it to a HOGWORKZ tour pack mount. Still.....for $80 vs $800, hard to argue."
That is the argument in one line. An $80 shell on an $800-class mount, painted to match, on a bike that has no factory tour pack option at all.
The practical notes are consistent with its siblings. "For the price you can't beat it. Storage capacity is awesome, I can fit so much in it and the installation was easy if you have the ability to use a drill." Not lined, so owners make their own: "His only complaint is that he wished it was padded inside but it was easy to make a liner for."
And the same latch reservation: "I love the backrest and extra trunk space. Would give it 5 stars but the latch does feel cheap."
Some buyers cannot make it fit at all, which is the risk with a universal part: "Never could get it mounted on my bike it was cheap made and a waste of money!" You need an existing 8 by 8 inch flat rack pad, so a Touring owner still has to buy a rack or mount on top of this.
Buy it as a paint blank for a non-Touring bike. Do not buy it expecting a tour pack.
What owners say: “It's not a high end tour pack, but it fits the size of my Lowrider ST. I painted mine and mounted it to a HOGWORKZ tour pack mount. Still.....for $80 vs $800, hard to argue. - DH”

Tour pack rack, docking hardware and the base plate
The parts the trunk listings leave out. You need a four-point docking kit on the frame, a two-up detachable tour pack rack, and the steel plate inside the trunk floor. This section is not optional - it is the other half of the purchase.

LAFORMO Inner Metal Base Plate for Razor, Chopped and King Tour Packs
Laser-cut stainless steel inner base plate, 12 x 11.4 in, black finish. Some hardware included.
Fits: 2014-up Harley Touring with Rushmore Razor, Chopped or King Tour-Pak, and the aftermarket packs that copy those dimensions.
The $25 part that no budget tour pack includes and that every owner in this category tells the next one to buy. If you read only one product entry in this guide, read this one.
It is a laser-cut steel plate that sits in the trunk floor and spreads the load of the mounting bolts. Without it, the thin ABS floor flexes with every bump and eventually tears around the fasteners, taking the backrest and the mount with it.
The reviews are unusually consistent. "Fits perfect with the TCMT Chopped Tour Pack. Mine did not come with a base plate, this one fixed that issue!" "This fits the factory holes perfect! Nice quality, no sharp edges and does exactly what I needed. Happy with the purchase and I highly recommend it if you plan to carry heavy things." "The dimensions are exact and everything lined up perfectly for my 2017 FLHSX Street Glide Special." "Perfect! It does exactly what it was intended. Keeps everything stiff with no wobble."
It lines up with the moulded holes on most packs, so it usually adds no extra drilling.
Two small notes. The listing promises only "some hardware", not a full bolt kit. And metal against plastic can rattle - one owner sprayed flex seal on it to quieten things down, which is a five-minute job worth doing while it is in your hand.
The highest rated product in this entire guide at 4.7, and it costs less than a tank of fuel.
What owners say: “Fits perfect with the TCMT Chopped Tour Pack. Mine did not come with a base plate, this one fixed that issue! Put me with $250 total for the tour pack! - DJJamesP”
- The part every budget trunk leaves out and every owner recommends
- Laser cut to the base contour of Razor, Chopped and King packs
- Spreads the mounting bolt load so the ABS floor does not tear
- Lines up with the moulded holes, usually no extra drilling
- Highest rated product in this guide at 4.7
- Turns a flexing budget shell into a solid one
- Fits Razor, Chopped and King packs from any brand
- Cheapest meaningful upgrade in the category
- 228 ratings at 4.7
- Only 'some hardware' included, not a full bolt kit
- Metal on plastic can rattle unless you damp it
- An extra purchase on top of a trunk sold as a complete kit

SWESGI 4-Point Docking Hardware Kit with Detachable Two-Up Rack
Detachable luggage rack plus the four-point docking hardware, alloy steel, black finish. Bolts, nuts, washers, strut mounts and instructions included. 165 lb stated capacity.
Fits: Road King FLHR, FLHRC, CVO FLHRSE, Electra Glide Standard FLHT, Street Glide FLHX, FLHXS, CVO FLHXSE, Road Glide FLTRX and more.
The rack and the four-point docking hardware in the same box, which is exactly what every trunk listing in this guide is missing. If you are starting from a bike with no docking points at all, this is the part that solves it in one purchase.
A 2022 Road Glide Limited owner: "This part mounted on my 2022 Road Glide Limited perfectly. The metal gauge seemed similar to the OEM equipment. The fit and finish was great. Installation was easy. The mount locked on tight, no movement at all." Another confirms what is actually in the box: "The kit comes with all the hardware, bolts/nuts/washers, strut mounts and instructions. Well made, quick and easy to install. Perfect fit."
It also works with the newest bikes and the factory Grand pack. A 2026 Limited owner: "Took a chance and bought this for a new 26' Limited. Easy install, quality materials, and lines up just fine on the new grand-tour pak. Held up wonderfully on a 700 mile trip."
One owner puts the saving at roughly $400 against the OEM equivalent.
Once the docking points are on the bike they also accept other Harley detachable accessories, which is worth knowing if a sissy bar or a luggage rack is anywhere in your future.
The reservations are minor: the quick release can be stiff on some units, one arrived scratched, and one owner had to persuade the fitment. Only 56 ratings so far.
What owners say: “This part mounted on my 2022 Road Glide Limited perfectly. The metal gauge seemed similar to the OEM equipment. The fit and finish was great. - Jeff H.”

- 165 lb stated load capacity, alloy steel

- Solves the missing docking hardware in one purchase
- Cheaper than the OEM equivalent per one owner
- Metal gauge comparable to OEM
- Instructions actually included, which is rare here
- Quick release can be stiff to engage and remove
- Finish scratched in transit on some units
- Some fitment persuasion reported
- Only 56 ratings

PBYMT Detachable Two-Up Tour Pack Mount, Thickened
Detachable two-up tour pack mounting rack, AISI 1045 steel with 6 mm thickened feet, black or chrome. 50-55 lb capacity. Docking hardware NOT included.
Fits: Harley 2014-later FLHR, FLHRC, FLHRSE, FLHT, FLHX, FLHXS, FLHXSE, FLTRX, FLTRXS. Requires a separate docking hardware kit. Street Glide and Road Glide need a hidden or relocated antenna. Not compatible with the Boom Audio Stage II speaker kit.
The most reviewed tour pack mount on Amazon by a wide margin, 628 ratings, and the mounting feet are thickened by 6 mm over the standard part.
Owners of current bikes report it going straight on: "Worked well on 2025 street glide ultra. snug fit and no rattles." "Great product snapped on great for my 2025 Harley Davidson road glide fit perfect." "Excellent quality heavy duty, mounted perfect."
Read the three exclusions in the listing before you order, because they are all real. It needs a separate four-point docking hardware kit - this is the rack only. Street Glide and Road Glide owners need a hidden antenna (P/N 76000513) or the relocation kit (P/N 76000582), because the rack goes where the antenna lives. And it will not work with the Boom Audio Stage II tour pack speaker kit.
This is also the listing that gives us the real weight limit for the whole category: the bullet claims 55 pounds, the specification table says 50. Either way the mount, not the trunk, is what sets the ceiling.
The one recurring problem is third-party docking hardware. An owner: "This did not fit on my (non Harley, Amazon purchased) docking hardware without modification. The hooks that wrap onto the front portion of the docking hardware were too narrow." His fix involved a MAP torch and heating the plastic bushings. If you are buying the docks separately, buy them from the same seller or expect fitting work.
What owners say: “Worked well on 2025 street glide ultra. snug fit and no rattles - S. Key”
- The most reviewed tour pack mount on Amazon at 628 ratings
- Mounting feet thickened by 6 mm over the standard part
- AISI 1045 steel, black or chrome coated
- Stated 50 to 55 lb loaded capacity - the real limit for the whole setup

- By far the best-reviewed mount here
- Thicker feet than the standard part
- Confirmed on current model-year bikes
- Cheapest route to a detachable rack

- Street Glide and Road Glide need an antenna kit
- Not compatible with the Boom Audio Stage II speaker kit
- No instruction manual supplied

VPZMT Adjustable 1 to 3 in Tour Pack Relocator Kit
Billet aluminium relocator plates, anodised gloss black, adjustable 1 to 3 inches rearward. Sold in 2014-2025 and 2009-2013 versions.
Fits: Harley Electra Glide, Road Glide, Road King, Street Glide and Trikes 2014-2025 with rigid-mounted or detachable King, Ultra or Chopped packs. Separate version for 2009-2013.
If your passenger complains that the tour pack is in their back, this is the fix and it costs $47. Two billet aluminium plates that shift the whole pack one to three inches rearward without changing the pack, the rack or anything else.
A 2016 Ultra Limited owner: "Perfect fit on my 2016 ultra limited 15 min install and i was done!" Another: "Solid, high quality, adjustable. excellent pricing."
Fifteen minutes is the consistent figure. Bolt-on, adjustable, anodised gloss black so it disappears.
Two irritations to plan for. The included bolts do not always work: "Hardware included will not work. Had to run to the hardware store to get the correct bolts." And the brackets are not marked left and right, which slows the job: "Worked great wish they were marked left and right but a good fit."
The one bad review is a fitment mismatch on an older bike - a 2008 Electra Glide Ultra Classic owner found the hole patterns did not line up despite the description. Check which version you are ordering: there is a 2009-2013 variant on the same listing and 2008 is outside both.
Only 30 ratings, but nothing in them suggests a design problem.
What owners say: “Perfect fit on my 2016 ultra limited 15 min install and i was done! - Kindle Customer”
- Shifts the pack 1 to 3 inches rearward, adjustable
- Billet aluminium, CNC cut, anodised gloss black

Latches, lights, speakers, liners and storage
The layer that fits every brand of pack. These parts are cut to the same Harley dimensions whether your trunk came from Milwaukee, from Advanblack or from a marketplace seller, which is why premium pack owners buy them here too. The replacement latch in particular is the fix for the most common failure in the whole category.

SWESGI Tour Pack Latch Kit with Hinges, Lock and Keys
Zinc alloy tour trunk latch, two hinges, lock, two keys and mounting screws. Black powder coat or chrome. Accepts a Harley matching lock barrel.
Fits: Harley Touring FLT, FLHT, FLHTCU, FLHRC, Road King, Road Glide, Street Glide, Electra Glide, Ultra Classic 2014-2025. Also fits Advanblack, HogWorkz and OEM packs.
The fix for the most common failure in this entire category, and the product that best proves the point that the accessory layer fits every brand.
The two most useful reviews are not from budget trunk owners. An Advanblack owner: "This replaced a loose latch that kept coming open on my Advanblack tour pack. This latch bolted right up and latches perfectly as it should. No loose handle or coming open on rides anymore!" A HogWorkz owner: "This fit perfectly and is an exact match to the Hogworx it replaced. So far so good after 1500 miles so far and it's not cheap metal."
If a $990 HogWorkz pack needs a $60 Amazon latch, that tells you the latch is a consumable rather than a symptom of buying cheap.
It is a complete kit rather than just the handle: latch, two hinges, lock, two keys and screws. And it accepts a Harley matching lock barrel, so one key can run the ignition and the pack, which is the small detail that makes a tour pack pleasant to live with.
An owner who had the standard problem: "Fit perfect. Nice and tight. Decent quality. Has held up so far on 2 rides where the stock one didnt."
Two caveats. Assembly faults do happen - one owner received a unit whose hinge mechanism would not open fully. And a new latch does not save a shell that has already cracked from riding with a loose one, which is the argument for replacing it early.
One kit is one latch. A twin-latch lid needs two.
What owners say: “This replaced a loose latch that kept coming open on my Advanblack tour pack. This latch bolted right up and latches perfectly as it should. No loose handle or coming open on rides anymore! - JEHK”
- Complete kit: latch, two hinges, lock, two keys and screws
- Zinc alloy, moulded closer to the original factory shape
- Accepts a Harley matching lock barrel so one key runs bike and pack
- Fitted by Advanblack, HogWorkz and OEM pack owners, not only budget trunks
- Black powder coat or chrome
- The standard cure for a lid that pops open
- Fixes the number one failure in the category
- Works on premium packs as well as budget ones
- One-key operation with a Harley barrel
- Complete kit, not just a handle
- Assembly faults reported on some units
- Will not save a shell that has already cracked
- Long-term durability still unproven
- One latch per kit - a twin-latch lid needs two

TCMT King Tour Pack LED Brake, Turn and Tail Light
Wrap-around King pack LED light bar with running, brake and turn functions. Smoke or red lens, black housing. Supplied with a 5-wire pigtail, no instructions.
Fits: 2014-later Harley with a King trunk, EXCEPT models with a CB antenna. AM/FM bikes need Harley hidden antenna P/N 76000862. Light plug is 5-pin; some bike-side pigtails are 6-pin.
The tour pack light, at roughly $250 to $300 less than the factory replacement according to one owner. Running, brake and turn functions in a wrap-around bar across the back of a King pack.
Whether it is easy depends entirely on your bike, and one review captures the split perfectly: "Easy install, if installing to a new trunk, you will have to use the supplied wires, if upgrading existing wires, pull out the wires and a plug in can be used making this a plug and play."
The trap is the connector count. An owner who bought the matching pigtail as well: "Pigtail is 6 pin which works with bike. Light is a 5 pin. So had to cut and solder. Please be aware these are a 5 pin plug on light. Causes a bit of a headache. Certainly not plug and play."
There are no instructions in the box at all. The only documentation that exists is what an owner published in a review: "This unit came with the 5 wire pigtail but no install instructions. Pin Out is as follows: Blue / white = ground, Green = Tail (running) light, Yellow / red = Left Turn Signal..."
And it does not talk to the bike's electronics: "Does not sync to Harley BCM, soldered in load equalizers to eliminate hyper flash indicators and even still brake light does not flash hazards unless the bike is running." Budget load equalisers.
Fitting it to a bare aftermarket pack also means cutting the square harness hole yourself, which several owners note is the hardest part of the job.
Read the fitment line twice: no CB antenna bikes, and AM/FM bikes need the hidden antenna part.
What owners say: “Bought a pigtail as well. Pigtail is 6 pin which works with bike. Light is a 5 pin. So had to cut and solder. Certainly not plug and play. - Doug”
- Wrap-around King pack light bar with running, brake and turn functions

- The cheap route to a lit tour pack
- Close to plug and play on a bike that had a factory Tour-Pak
- Big saving against the OEM part

- 5-pin light against 6-pin bike side - soldering is common

- Does not sync to the Harley BCM - hyper flash needs load equalisers
- Lens edges not flush, possible water intrusion
- Not for CB antenna bikes; AM/FM needs the hidden antenna part
- You cut the harness hole in a new trunk yourself

TCMT 6.5 in Tour Pack Rear Speaker Pods with Drivers
Pair of 6.5 in speaker pods with black mesh grilles, matte black retaining rings and two drivers. 4 ohm, 30 W, 92 dB, 45 Hz to 22 kHz. No harness, no mounting hardware.
Fits: 2014-2023 FLHT, FLHX, FLHXS, FLTRX and FLTRXS with a King trunk AND a Boom Box audio system. Does NOT fit the Solo Trunk Mounting Rack P/N 53000225. Not for pre-2014 bikes.
Pods, grilles, rings and a pair of drivers for about $110, against $229 and up for the colour-matched alternatives. This is the cheap way to add rear speakers to a tour pack that did not come with them.
An owner who did the job: "Easy to install.. pull the speaker, mark the holes, drill and attach with the included stainless steel screws. Mounts up sturdy and solid right to the tour pack." Another is pleasantly surprised: "I'm very surprised at how good these sound. They look great and fit is spot on. Definitely best bang for the buck."
The realistic view, from an owner who bought them as a base: "For adding these to a tour pack that didn't have any speakers it's the cheaper way to go and always able to add better speakers later."
Three things to settle before you order. There is no harness and no mounting hardware in the box - the listing says so - and you wire the speakers back to the Boom Box amplifier yourself. The housings are shallow, so swapping in better drivers later usually needs spacer rings. And the supplied fasteners are poor: "Crap that came with it was useless, fell apart and 20 miles."
The bigger commitment is physical. You are cutting two large holes in the sides of a tour pack you just bought, and there is no undoing that. Decide before you fit anything else, and remember from earlier in this guide that speaker cutouts are the main documented leak path on these packs.
Check the year: a buyer who missed it got caught. "I didn't see that it was for '14 and up. I had to send mine back."
What owners say: “Easy to install.. pull the speaker, mark the holes, drill and attach with the included stainless steel screws. Mounts up sturdy and solid right to the tour pack. - Haley Hutcheson”

WOWTK Tour Pack Wiring Harness Kit, 17 Functions
In-pack wiring harness with 17 interfaces: tail light, top light, interior lights, cigarette lighter, CB and AM/FM antenna feeds. No installation sheet.
Fits: Harley Touring 2014-2025 Road King, Road Glide, Street Glide, Electra Glide Standard and select CVO. IMPORTANT: bikes never fitted with a Tour-Pak have no wiring at the tailbox and need a separate quick-disconnect harness as well.
The part that makes an aftermarket trunk wire up like a factory Tour-Pak, and the part that tells you the truth about the wiring job before you start.
Seventeen interfaces covering the pack top light, tail light, interior light, cigarette lighter socket and the CB and AM/FM antenna feeds. At $34 it is the cheapest route into tour pack lighting.
The warning is printed on the listing and it is the single most important line in the whole lighting section of this guide: "For Models not originally equipped with a Tour Luggage Pack, a separate purchase of the Tour Luggage Pack Quick Disconnect Wiring Harness is necessary, as the tailbox location lacks pre-installed wiring."
An owner states it more plainly: "Harness is only for the tour pack. You will have to buy another harness to connect to the bike. Connectors are good and wiring is good."
When it does work it works well: "very nice wiring harness and perfect plug and play for lighting and cb and lighting."
The problems are documentation and grounding. There is no installation sheet: "without an installation sheet, there are some clips that could go in 4 different places, and it's your guess as to how to route it to the exit hole in the front of the tourpak." One owner had to run a separate wire for a proper ground. And there is a lot of excess wire to bundle and hide inside the pack.
Buy it if your bike had a factory Tour-Pak. If it did not, buy it and a quick-disconnect harness, and set aside an afternoon.
What owners say: “Harness is only for the tour pack. You will have to buy another harness to connect to the bike. Connectors are good and wiring is good. - Jamie”
- 17 interfaces: tail light, top light, interior lights, lighter socket, CB and antenna
- The cheapest route into tour pack lighting
- Makes an aftermarket trunk wire up like a factory Tour-Pak
- States clearly that bikes without a factory Tour-Pak need a second harness
- Good quality connectors per owner reports
- Fits 2014-2025 Touring
- Cheapest way to wire a tour pack properly
- The listing is honest about needing a second harness
- Connector and wire quality reported as good
- Covers CB and antenna feeds as well as lighting
- No installation sheet at all - clips could go four different places
- Grounding not handled, needs a separate wire
- You still need a quick-disconnect harness to reach the bike
- A lot of excess wire to bundle inside the pack
- Wire fragility reported

HDBUBALUS King Tour Pack Liners, Lid and Base Pair
Pair of King tour pack liners. Waterproof PU leather face, high-density XPE foam core, anti-scuff backing, adhesive velcro strips.
Fits: 2014-later King Tour-Pak dimensions - Harley OEM, and confirmed by owners on Advanblack and HogWorkz King packs. NOT cut for Chopped or Razor packs.
Lid and base liners for a King pack, under $50 against $149 to $185 for the premium versions. They fit every brand of King pack because all of them copy the same Harley dimensions.
An Advanblack owner: "This liner fit my Advanblack king tour pack just right. Big savings over other options that appear identical. Just enough cushion for items in the tour pack without sacrificing space." A HogWorkz owner: "I have a Hogworkz king tour pack, the dimensions are the same as a HD king tour pack."
They do three jobs: stop gear sliding, kill a lot of the drumming noise from a big empty ABS box, and protect whatever you put in there. One owner: "Easy to install. Well made. Perfect fit. Reduced the noise in my tour pack."
Two things to plan for. The supplied velcro is not enough: "the roll of Velcro is only enough to go around either the bottom or the lid liner all the way around, not both." Buy a roll separately at the same time.
And they are not cut around the lid tether. The owner who hit that had a bad time: "not cut out around the lid tether (recoil) and it never lays out flat, put it out in the sun for six hours before trying to install it and then purchased more velcro but after all that still took it back out and put it in the trash."
Fit is described as close rather than exact by several owners, particularly on the lid. At a quarter of the price of the alternatives that is a trade most people accept.
What owners say: “This liner fit my Advanblack king tour pack just right. Big savings over other options that appear identical. - mad hatter”
- Lid and base pair for a King pack
- PU leather face over an XPE foam core
- Fits Harley, Advanblack and HogWorkz King packs alike

- Seller claims up to 85 percent noise reduction
- Diamond and floral stitch patterns in orange, red or white
- A quarter of the price of the premium liners

Dasen Tour Pack Wall Mount Storage Rack
Wall-mounted storage rack for a quick-detach tour pack, sissy bar, luggage rack and backrest. Metal, black, 165 lb stated capacity.
Fits: Harley Touring Road Glide, Street Glide, Electra Glide, Road King 1997-up, and Sportster, Softail and Dyna detachable parts. No modification to the bike required.
If you bought a detachable tour pack, you now own a large painted object with nowhere to live. This is the answer, and it costs less than fixing the scratches.
An owner says it better than any listing: "The most dangerous spot for your tour pack is laying around in your garage it will indefinitely get scratched and damaged. Easy install seems like a good quality product."
It takes the tour pack, a sissy bar, a luggage rack and a backrest, all off the floor. Owners hang a King pack, a touring seat, a cover and a helmet on one unit. Rated at 165 pounds, against the roughly 40 pounds a King pack weighs empty, so there is plenty of margin: "It seems like it should hold at least twice the empty weight of the tour pack (40 lb)."
The pack sits in a way that looks improbable and works: "The king tour pack sits flat. It doesn't look like it should clip on where it does, but it works to keep the pack out of the way and safe when not in use on the bike."
The supplied fasteners are the weak point and they come up in almost every critical review. "The nuts and bolts that attach the bars are pretty cheap and crappy." "the head of two broke when installing them on the wall." "there are four holes per side to attach the bracket to the wall, but there were only six lag screws with the rack."
And the bracket spacing is not exactly 16 inches, so it will not always land on two studs. One owner mounted his into concrete block with Tapcons instead.
Buy it, and buy proper lag bolts at the same time.
What owners say: “The most dangerous spot for your tour pack is laying around in your garage it will indefinitely get scratched and damaged. - J. Joye”
- Holds tour pack, sissy bar, luggage rack and backrest off the garage floor
- 165 lb stated capacity against a King pack's ~40 lb empty weight
- No drilling or modification to the bike
- Owners also hang a touring seat, cover and helmet on it
- Fits 1997-up Touring plus Sportster, Softail and Dyna detachables
- Stops an expensive painted pack getting scratched on the floor
- Big capacity margin
- Nothing on the bike is modified
- 4.6 from 171 ratings
- Supplied nuts, bolts and lag screws are poor - buy your own
- Screw heads snap during installation
- Bracket spacing is not exactly 16 in on centre for wall studs
- Not enough lag screws supplied for all the holes
- Fine-thread assembly bolts are fiddly

The short version
- Budget three purchases, not one. Trunk, mount or docking hardware, and the inner steel base plate.
- Pick the size by depth. King 13.7 inches for two helmets and touring, Chopped 10.7 inches for looks with real storage, Razor 5.5 inches for a day box.
- Black bike, buy Amazon. Any other colour, either accept a black pack or pay Advanblack or HogWorkz for the match. That is genuinely what the extra money buys.
- Buy the variant without speaker holes unless you are fitting speakers, and seal every hole you drill.
- Street Glide or Road Glide: price the antenna kit before you order the rack.
- Treat the latch as a consumable. Ride locked, and replace it the moment the lid starts to rattle.
- Inventory the box the day it arrives. Missing parts are common enough here to plan for.
- When the pack comes off, hang it up. A tour pack wall mount costs a great deal less than repainting a pack you scratched on the garage floor.
