Best Harley Floorboards and Foot Pegs: Mounts, Fitment and Comfort

Best Harley Floorboards and Foot Pegs: Mounts, Fitment and Comfort

Harley floorboards are the flat platforms your boots sit on instead of round pegs. Harley Davidson floorboards, to give them their full catalogue name, are the one comfort part you use every second of every ride.

They spread your weight across the whole foot rather than a two inch bar, they let you shift position without taking your feet off the bike, and on a long day they are the difference between arriving loose and arriving with cramp in both arches.

That is the entire case for them, and it is a strong one. A peg concentrates load on one narrow line under your arch. A board carries it across the sole. Ten minutes into a ride you will not notice. Three hundred miles in, you will.

Why floorboards for Harley Davidson are the upgrade riders make first

Almost every Touring Harley leaves the factory with driver boards and passenger pegs. So the single most common change on a bagger is not chrome or exhaust - it is fitting Harley passenger floorboards so the pillion has a platform instead of a peg. That is one $70 to $85 part and about twenty minutes of work, and it is the fastest way to make a pillion stop asking how much further it is.

Riders have their own version of the same problem, in three forms: boards too small, boards too close to a hot exhaust, or rubber that died three summers ago and no longer damps anything. Each has a different fix, and two of the three cost under $40.

What you will get from this guide

  • The mount question answered - male-mount clevis, OEM floorboard bracket and streamline passenger bracket, and which parts fit which.
  • The 2018 Softail break, the sharpest fitment cutoff in this category, and the $34 part that gets around it.
  • The clearance problem nobody warns you about, which on late-model baggers is the board hitting the bike rather than the road.
  • Extensions versus new boards - when moving your existing board an inch outward beats spending four times as much.
  • Which products ship complete and which need washers, shims and a trip to the hardware store before they will hold.
  • 10 products compared, every price, rating, fitment line and owner report read on the product page.

One note on how thin the published advice is here. Search for the best floorboards for Harley Davidson and the first page is twelve shops, six blocks of shopping ads, and one article - published by a company selling its own boards. Positions two and eight are a Facebook thread and a Reddit thread of riders asking each other what to buy. There is no independent comparison at all. This guide is that comparison.

XFMT Streamline Passenger Floorboards with Adjustable Mount Bracket
#1 Pick: Best Harley Floorboards Overall

951 ratings at 4.6, the largest review base in this category by a wide margin, and the change that does the most for the least money on a Touring bike - because almost every bagger leaves the factory with passenger pegs rather than boards. Three-position angle bracket, hardware included.

Three mounting systems, and why parts do not interchange

Before price, before finish, before size - work out which mount your bike has. Nearly every return in this category traces back to this and nothing else.

Male-mount clevis, the standard for Harley foot pegs

The dominant interface on Harley Davidson foot pegs, and the one most listings mean when they spell it Harley Davidson footpegs. The peg carries a male tang that drops into a female clevis on the bike and is held by a pin and a retaining clip. Both peg sets in this guide state the same requirement: models with male mount-style footpeg supports.

It is used in both rider and passenger positions on a lot of bikes, which is why the same peg is sold for either end. If you can see a slotted bracket with a pin through it, you have male mount.

OEM floorboard bracket

Driver boards on Touring and FL Softail bikes bolt to a factory floorboard bracket. The reference part number worth knowing is 50631-04 - one board in this guide is sold as a direct replacement for it, which is the clearest signal you will get that a board is a genuine bolt-on rather than a near-fit.

Stretched boards mount here too, but they sit differently, and two owners of one stretched set had to grind an ear off the stock bracket to seat them. Budget for a Dremel if you go that route.

Streamline bracket for Harley Davidson passenger floorboards

Passenger boards on Touring bikes use an adjustable bracket kit that bolts to the passenger mount. Two approaches exist: fixed detents, where you pick one of three angles, or a 360 degree swivel where the board rotates freely. The three-position type is easier to set and stays put; the swivel type adapts to any bracket but can fold too far, which matters on late baggers.

What this means when you order

  • Pegs and boards are not interchangeable across mounts. A male-mount peg will not bolt to a floorboard bracket, and vice versa.
  • Adapters exist in only one direction that matters: peg mount supports that add a male-mount clevis to a bike that has none.
  • Splined shafts do not appear anywhere in the ten Harley-specific products researched here, despite being common on other brands.

Fitment traps: the 2018 Softail break and four others

Every listing for aftermarket floorboards for Harley Davidson carries an exclusion line, and the exclusions are where the money gets lost. These are the five that catch people.

1. 2018 and later Softails have no passenger peg mounts

This is the sharpest cutoff in the category. One peg listing here excludes the rider and passenger position on 2018-later Softails outright. Pre-2018 FL Softails, from 1986 to 2017, are covered by almost every driver board on this page. From 2018 the platform simply does not give you somewhere to hang a passenger peg.

The fix is a $34 set of peg mount supports that bolt on in the OEM style and then accept any standard male-mount peg or board. Buy those first, then buy the pegs.

2. The FLST and FLD accessory mount note

Two separate listings carry the same line almost word for word: FLST and FLD models with passenger footpegs require OEM accessory floorboard mounts, which are not included. This is the most repeated footnote in the whole category and the easiest one to skim past.

3. The 2015 Street Glide

Two unrelated products here - a stainless passenger board and a rubber insert - both specifically exclude the 2015 Street Glide from otherwise broad Touring coverage. If that is your bike, read every fitment line twice.

4. Late-model CVO and Ultra exclusions

The 2025-later FLTRXRRSE is cut out of two listings. One board also excludes the Electra Glide Ultra Classic Low FLHTCUL and the Ultra Limited Low FLHTKL. A 2025 Street Glide Ultra owner found his set needed a male single-pin mount ordered separately.

5. Exclusions that are simply wrong

The floorboard extension kit here states it is not compatible with the 2024 Road Glide, and several 2024 and 2025 Road Glide owners report fitting it with no trouble at all - one specifically to stop his knee rubbing the tank. Treat fitment lines as a starting point, not gospel, and check clearances on your own bike.

The clearance problem is the bike, not the road

Ask about wider Harley Davidson floorboards and you expect a lecture on lean angle and scraping in corners. The research says something different, and it is worth knowing before you order.

Not one listing in this sample states a lean angle figure, and not one owner in the reviews read reported scraping asphalt in a corner. Ground clearance simply is not what people complain about.

What they actually complain about

Long passenger boards hitting the bodywork when folded up. Three separate owners of 2024 and 2025 Road Glides hit this with the same set of boards:

  • One found the folded boards striking the side panels and removed four grip cleats to stop them gouging the plastic.
  • One confirmed the same thing and simply lives with it.
  • One traced it to the swivel letting the board fold too far, stuck clear cabinet bumpers on as a stopgap, and planned to weld a nub on the pivot as a proper travel stop.

This is a swivel-type passenger board on a late bagger with tight bodywork. A three-position bracket, which cannot rotate past its detents, does not have the problem.

Extensions and engine lowers fight each other

The second real clearance issue: pushing a board outward and then fitting engine lowers. A 2025 CVO Street Glide owner did both and had to pull some of the spacer stack back out to make it work at all. If you run lowers, or plan to, fit them first and size the extension around them.

Boards, pegs or extensions: which one actually fixes your problem

Three different complaints get treated as one, and they have three different answers.

Numb feet on long rides: buy boards, not foot pegs for Harley Davidson

That is a load distribution problem, and a board is the answer. One maker here quotes 35 percent more surface area than a standard footpeg; another supplies a front board measuring 12.8 by 4.4 inches. An owner who swapped to cushioned boards on a 1986 Low Rider calls the flat surface far more comfortable than the stock round pegs.

Vibration isolation matters as much as area. One board here uses vibration-isolated inserts rather than a bonded pad, which takes the buzz out before it reaches your boot. On a Harley that is not marketing - it is the difference between numb toes at 200 miles and not.

"My boot is cooking and my knee hits the tank"

Do not buy new boards. Buy Harley floorboard extensions, which move the board you already have one or one and a half inches outward for around $33. The owner reports on this are the most specific in the whole research: a 6 foot 2 rider on a 2025 Street Glide moved his feet and legs away from the exhaust and tank with the 1.5 inch offset, a 2023 Street Glide ST owner used the 1 inch to keep his boots off the hot pipes, and a Road Glide owner in Canada reports his knee no longer rubs the gas tank.

One clever variation from an owner: fit the extension on the air-breather side only. If your heat problem is one-sided, so is the fix.

"My boards look tired and feel dead"

Check the rubber before you condemn the board. On most older bikes the pan is fine and only the insert is finished. Harley Davidson floorboard inserts cost around $36 a pair and go in in five to ten minutes, against $115 to $157 for new boards. Owners report perfect fits on bikes from 1996 through 2009.

The honest caveat: a daily rider saw cracks and the anti-vibration pads pushing through in under a year, against two to three years from the Harley part. For a weekend bike it is an easy win, for an everyday commuter less so.

Installation: expect washers, and check the box before you start

Most of this is basic bolt-on work with allen keys and a wrench. Reported times: about five minutes for a passenger board, ten minutes to swap a pair of pegs, fifteen minutes for an extension kit, five to ten for a rubber insert. None of it needs a lift or special tools.

What it does need is hardware that the box does not always contain.

The washer problem

This is the single most repeated install complaint across the category, and it is not confined to one brand:

  • One peg set ships with no washers or spacers at all, so the peg has play and will not pivot properly until you shim it. Getting the shim right so it stays tight when folded is described as a hassle.
  • Another peg listing openly admits in its own text that the pegs may slip or loosen, and tells you to shim the clamps with your original washers.
  • A peg mount support kit needs an extra spacer on top of what it supplies to remove play.
  • A driver board arrived with hardware missing from the box on at least one order.
  • A passenger board arrived with two bolts in the wrong size.

Keep your original washers and pins, and have a few M8 and M10 washers on the bench before you start. It turns a frustrating job into a ten minute one.

Instructions are a genuine differentiator

Two products here ship a manual and buyers confirm it. Three state outright or in practice that no instructions are included. If you are new to this, the manual is worth paying a few dollars more for.

Two specific tricks

  • Rubber inserts: the retaining nipples will not go through the pan holes dry. Dish soap or a spray lubricant plus needle-nose pliers, and pull each one through in turn. One owner needed his wife to stand on the pads.
  • Peg mount supports: the retaining pin and spring are the hard part. One owner compressed the spring with pliers and warmed it before it would seat.

Six mistakes that get floorboards returned

  1. Ordering Harley foot pegs for a 2018-later Softail. There are no passenger peg mounts on that platform. Buy the mount supports first.
  2. Reading the year range and skipping the exclusion line. The 2015 Street Glide, FLHTCUL, FLHTKL, FLTRXRRSE and the FLST accessory-mount note all live below the headline.
  3. Buying stretched boards with forward controls fitted. One buyer returned a set for exactly that. They are not compatible.
  4. Buying new boards when the rubber is the problem. A $36 insert restores an otherwise sound board.
  5. Fitting extensions and lowers in the wrong order. Lowers first, then size the spacer stack around them.
  6. Starting the job without spare washers. Half the products here need shimming and several ship short on hardware.

XFMT Streamline Passenger Floorboards with Adjustable Mount Bracket
1

XFMT Streamline Passenger Floorboards with Adjustable Mount Bracket

4.6(951 ratings)

Passenger floorboards, streamline style, solid aluminium with non-slip rubber pads. Three-position adjustable angle, foldable. Bracket and hardware included.

Fits Touring streamliner style 1993-later: Road King, Street Glide, Road Glide, Electra Glide. Excludes 2025-later FLTRXRRSE. Does not fit Trike models.

The most-reviewed floorboard on Amazon by a wide margin, and the reason is simple: almost every Touring Harley leaves the factory with passenger pegs rather than boards, so this is the single most common foot upgrade a bagger owner makes.

At 951 ratings and 4.6 stars, the review base here is bigger than everything else in this guide combined. The recurring theme is that it matches the factory parts. Owners report it matching the stock driver floorboards exactly, coming with its own hardware, and installing like a factory part. One buyer on a 2025 Road Glide says he was surprised by the quality for the price. Several make the same point about cost: it looks like the Harley item at under half the Harley price.

The three-position angle bracket is what earns it the top spot. A passenger's leg length and the bike's mounting geometry rarely agree, and a fixed board either digs into a calf or dangles. Three positions plus the fold-up means most people find something that works.

Two honest fit notes. It sits slightly higher than the stock pegs if you use the same mounting hole, which one owner flagged after fitting it with the original Harley bolts. And the space near the fairing is tight during install - one rider chipped paint with his allen wrench getting in there.

The finish is where the corners are cut. The gloss black powder coat draws repeated criticism: acceptable on the visible surfaces, less so underneath, and one owner plans to strip and re-coat his. The chrome inserts, by contrast, are said to match OEM well.

What owners report: matched the stock Harley floorboards perfectly at under half the Harley price, install super easy with no extra extenders or brackets needed - Daniel McCain

MZS Stretched Driver and Passenger Floorboards Set for Harley Touring
2

MZS Stretched Driver and Passenger Floorboards Set for Harley Touring

4.4(74 ratings)

Full four-board set, driver and passenger, CNC billet aluminium with stainless steel coned cleats. Front board 12.8 x 4.4 in. Passenger boards rotate 360 degrees.

1984-2024 Road Glide, Street Glide, Electra Glide, Road King, Softail, Ultra Limited, Tour and Trike. Passenger side only fits models with HD male-mount peg mounts. 2025 Street Glide Ultra needs a male single-pin mount ordered separately.

The only complete set in this guide: four boards, driver and passenger, matched, for less than most single pairs of premium billet boards cost. The front board is 12.8 by 4.4 inches, which is a genuinely large platform, and the passenger boards rotate a full 360 degrees to sit right on whatever bracket your bike has.

Owner reports on quality and fit are consistently good. Riders on 2024 and 2025 Road Glides call the install easy and the boards durable. The billet finish and the look draw repeated praise.

There is one specific problem you need to know about before ordering, and it only shows up on late-model baggers. Three separate owners of 2024 and 2025 Road Glides report the same thing: the passenger boards are long enough that when they fold up, they hit the side body panels. One removed four of the grip cleats to stop them gouging the plastic. Another stuck clear cabinet bumpers on. A third plans to weld a nub on the pivot as a travel stop. It is fixable in twenty minutes, but it is real and it is not on the listing.

Two more notes. A 2025 Street Glide Ultra owner found it needs a male single-pin mount ordered separately. And there are no installation instructions in the box.

The cleats deserve a mention too. They are aggressive - one rider compares standing on them to a BMX pedal. Excellent in the wet, less pleasant in soft-soled shoes.

What owners report: on a 2025 Road Glide the install was easy and the boards feel awesome, the only downside being that the passenger boards hit the bike when folded up - Kathryn Lake

Features
  • Four boards, driver and passenger, in one set
  • Front board 12.8 x 4.4 in, one of the largest platforms here
  • Passenger boards rotate 360 degrees to any bracket angle
  • CNC billet aluminium with stainless steel coned cleats
  • 1984-2024 coverage across Touring, Softail and Trike
Pros
  • Cheapest way to do all four positions at once
  • Genuinely large driver platform
  • Serious wet-weather grip
  • Confirmed easy install on 2024 and 2025 baggers
Cons
  • Passenger boards strike the side panels when folded on 2024-2025 Road Glide
  • 2025 Street Glide Ultra needs a separately ordered single-pin mount
  • No installation instructions supplied
  • Cleats are aggressive enough to be uncomfortable in soft shoes

Green-L Rider Floorboards, OEM 50631-04 Replacement, Harley Touring 86-25
3

Green-L Rider Floorboards, OEM 50631-04 Replacement, Harley Touring 86-25

4.4(34 ratings)

Driver floorboards, delta wing shaped pans with vibration-isolated inserts. Aluminium with rubber pads, chrome or black. Direct replacement for Harley part 50631-04.

2012-2016 FLD and 1986-2017 FL Softail, except FLS, FLSS, FLSTFB and FLSTFBS. 1986-later Touring, except FLHTCUL and FLHTKL. Read the exclusion list carefully.

The straightforward choice if you want your floorboards to look like they came off the production line. This is a direct replacement for Harley part number 50631-04, in the same delta wing shape, with vibration-isolated rubber inserts rather than a solid pad.

That last detail matters more on a Harley than on almost any other bike. An isolated insert takes the buzz out of the board before it reaches your boot, and on a 300 mile day the difference in foot fatigue is not subtle.

Owners buy it for exactly one reason and say so plainly: Harley parts are overpriced and this is as close to OEM as you get for the money. Reports of easy installs come from a 1996 Road King, a 2007 Road Glide and several others, with all parts included in the box.

Two things to weigh honestly. The exclusion list is long, and it is specific - four Softail models and two Ultra Low Touring models are out. And with only 34 ratings, the sample is thin. That matters because one owner reports his boards physically coming apart after the first ride, and again after the second. That is one report out of 34, not a pattern, but at this price it deserves saying.

Fitment on some bikes needs a minute of adjusting rather than dropping straight on.

What owners report: as close to OEM as you can get and at a far more affordable price than buying from Harley directly - JustReloading

Features
  • Direct replacement for Harley part number 50631-04
  • Vibration-isolated inserts rather than a solid rubber pad
  • Delta wing shaped pans in the factory profile
  • Aluminium boards, chrome or black
  • Also sold in driver plus passenger combinations
Pros
  • Closest thing here to a factory board at an aftermarket price
  • Vibration isolation is a real comfort gain on long days
  • All parts included, easy install on multiple model years
Cons
  • Only 34 ratings, so durability evidence is thin
  • One owner reports the boards coming apart twice after fitting
  • Long exclusion list across Softail and Ultra Low Touring
  • Fitment needs adjustment on some bikes

VPZMT Anti-Slip Chrome Stretched Driver Floorboards for Harley Touring
4

VPZMT Anti-Slip Chrome Stretched Driver Floorboards for Harley Touring

4.2(47 ratings)

Driver floorboards, stretched oversized platform with anti-slip surface. Chrome or black, driver or passenger versions in the same listing. No installation instructions supplied.

2012-2016 FLD, 1986-2017 FL Softail except FLS, FLSS, FLSTFB, FLSTFBS and FXSE, 1986-2026 Touring and 2008-later Trike. FLST and FLD models with passenger footpegs need OEM accessory floorboard mounts, not included.

The stretched-look option, and the one that changes the visual proportions of the bike most. A 2003 Road King owner says it shines and gives the bike a whole new look. A 2014 Ultra Limited owner is 4,000 miles in.

It is also the most divisive product in this guide, and the split is entirely about finish and fit rather than design.

Two owners had to grind an ear off the stock mounting bracket to get these to seat. The 2014 Ultra Limited owner did it and added 1 inch spacers as well. That is not a defect exactly - stretched boards sit differently - but it is a Dremel job you should expect rather than discover.

The chrome is the other complaint. One buyer says it scratched on the first ride and calls the plating thin; another calls the finish cheap while liking the shape. Against that, several owners are entirely happy with how it looks.

Practical notes that will save you a return. These will not work with forward controls - one Canadian buyer sent them back for exactly that. The surface is slightly slippery in the wet at 4,000 miles. Hardware went missing from at least one box. And the listing states outright that no installation instructions are included, so check the fitment line yourself before ordering.

Read that FLST and FLD note too: if your bike has passenger footpegs, you need OEM accessory floorboard mounts that do not come in this box.

What owners report: on a 2014 Ultra Limited he ground one ear on the mounting bracket and added 1 inch spacers, and 4,000 miles later reports them slightly slippery when wet - fixmyboat

Features
  • Stretched oversized platform, the biggest visual change here
  • Anti-slip surface pattern
  • Chrome or black, driver or passenger from the same listing
  • Very wide coverage: 1986-2026 Touring plus Softail and Trike
  • Proven at 4,000 miles by one owner
Pros
  • Genuinely transforms the look of a bagger
  • Widest year coverage of any board in this guide
  • Available in matching driver and passenger versions
Cons
  • Several owners had to grind the stock bracket ear to fit
  • Chrome plating is thin and scratches early per two owners
  • Will not work with forward controls
  • No instructions and at least one box missing hardware
  • Slightly slippery when wet

Benlari Stainless Steel Passenger Floorboards with Mount Kits, Touring 93-24
5

Benlari Stainless Steel Passenger Floorboards with Mount Kits, Touring 93-24

4.3(30 ratings)

Passenger floorboards, heavy-duty stainless steel board on an A3 steel mount. 35 percent more surface area than standard pegs. Anti-slip rubber screwed rather than glued. 90 degree fold. Manual included.

Touring 1993-2024: Road King, Street Glide, Road Glide, Electra Glide, Ultra Classic, Ultra Limited. Does not fit the 2015 Street Glide.

The value alternative to the XFMT boards, and the one with the better material spec. Stainless steel rather than coated aluminium, an A3 steel mount, and anti-slip rubber that is screwed down instead of glued - which is exactly where cheap boards fail first.

A 2023 Ultra Limited owner reports it fitting just like OEM, with the boards slightly bigger than Harley's own, which he counts as a plus for a passenger. Another owner makes the point that matters to a lot of riders: it looks like an OEM part without carrying Harley branding.

The manual is a real differentiator in this category. Half the products in this guide ship with no instructions at all. Benlari includes one on both of its items here, and buyers confirm it.

Three caveats worth reading. Two of the supplied bolts arrived in the wrong size for one owner, who had to source replacements - the same complaint appears on Benlari's extender kit, so check the hardware bag before you start. The 2015 Street Glide is specifically excluded from an otherwise clean 1993-2024 Touring range, which is an easy year to miss. And at 30 ratings, long-term durability is not yet proven.

For $70 with a stainless board and a manual, it is the sensible second choice if the top pick is out of stock or you want steel rather than aluminium.

What owners report: fit just like OEM on a 2023 Ultra Limited, with the boards slightly bigger than Harley's own - Amazon Customer

  • Better material spec than the coated aluminium competition
  • Instructions actually supplied
  • Boards slightly larger than the Harley item per one owner
  • Clean OEM look with no branding

Male-mount foot pegs for Harley-Davidson

Two sets of Harley foot pegs for bikes with male mount-style supports. Keep your original washers - both need shimming.

TCMT Male Mount-Style Footpegs for Harley, Driver or Passenger
6

TCMT Male Mount-Style Footpegs for Harley, Driver or Passenger

4.5(579 ratings)

Male mount-style footpegs, metal with soft rubber tread, nine style options in chrome, black and matte black. Usable in driver or passenger position. Pair.

Fits most Harley-Davidson models with male mount-style footpeg supports, driver or passenger. No year range and no exclusion list on the listing, so verify the mount type on your bike.

If your bike uses male-mount pegs and you want something better than the stock rubber, this is the volume choice: 579 ratings at 4.5, nine style options, and about thirty dollars.

The comfort story is consistent. An owner of a 1986 Low Rider bought three sets, calls them heavy and well made, and says they still look new after a summer including rain - and more comfortable than the stock round pegs. Another describes the flat cushioned surface as very comfortable and heavy duty, with a ten minute swap. On a Fat Boy, a rider paid $39 against $65 to $75 elsewhere for the same thing.

They also cross-shop well against Harley's own catalogue. One owner says they match the HD Empire collection at a much better price.

Budget five extra minutes and a handful of washers. The single most common complaint is that no washers or spacers are supplied, so the peg has play and will not pivot properly until you shim it. One owner had to find his own; another found getting the shims right so the pegs stay tight when folded up a genuine hassle. This is the category-wide problem rather than a TCMT one, but it applies here.

Finish varies between the nine styles. One owner found the cheaper front pegs noticeably less smooth than his stock rears. And since the listing gives no year range at all, confirm you actually have male-mount supports before ordering.

Riders also use these on crash bars as highway pegs with a separately sourced mounting ring.

What owners report: bought three sets for a 1986 Low Rider, heavy and great quality, still looking new after a summer including rain and more comfortable than the stock round pegs - Scott

HDBUBALUS Male Mount Footrests, CNC Billet Aluminium

HDBUBALUS Male Mount Footrests, CNC Billet Aluminium

4.4(478 ratings)

Male mount-style footpegs, CNC billet aluminium with rubber bands and a knurled centre. 360 degree rotation. Black or chrome. Pair.

Harley 1984-2025 with male mount-style footpeg supports. Excludes the rider position on 2017-later XG750A, several XL883 and XL1200 models, and the rider and passenger position on 2018-later Softail. Check the exclusion list.

Seventeen dollars, 478 ratings, and a slim billet profile that changes the look of a peg-equipped Harley more than the price suggests. If you want blacked-out pegs on a Sportster or a Dyna without spending real money, start here.

Owners fit them in minutes. A 2000 XL1200 Sportster owner had the passenger pegs on in three to five minutes and says they fit like a glove. A 2005 XL1200C owner reports no issues whatsoever. A mechanic liked them enough on a customer's bike that he ordered a second set. The 360 degree rotation lets you set a natural foot angle rather than living with whatever the casting gives you.

The exclusion list is the important part of this listing, and it contains the sharpest year break in the whole category: 2018-later Softails are out entirely, rider and passenger. Several Sportster models are also excluded from the rider position. Read it against your exact model before ordering.

Two honest weaknesses. The black paint scratches easily and one owner says it will wear off quickly - he moved to heavier duty pegs. And on some mounts the pegs sag at a negative angle: one owner believes the clevis pocket is machined too deep and needs modifying. The listing itself concedes that the pegs may slip or loosen and tells you to shim the clamps with the original washers, which is unusually honest and also a warning.

The platform is small. One rider wanted something bigger, and if that is you, the boards above are the answer rather than a different peg.

What owners report: fitted the passenger pegs to a 2000 XL1200 Sportster in three to five minutes and they fit like a glove - Ben Shinn

Benlari 1 in and 1.5 in Driver Floorboard Extensions Spacer Kit

4.7(448 ratings)

Floorboard extension spacers, two offsets in one kit, 6061 CNC aluminium spacers with stainless steel hardware. Left and right specific. Installation manual included.

Touring Street Glide, Road Glide, Road King, Electra Glide 2009-2024 and Tri-Glide 2010-2013. The listing says not compatible with the 2024 Road Glide, but several 2024 and 2025 Road Glide owners report fitting it successfully.

The highest rated product in this guide at 4.7 from 448 ratings, and the one that fixes a problem most riders have not named yet: your feet are too close to the bike.

Two symptoms, both extremely common on a bagger. Heat from the exhaust cooking the inside of your boot, and your knee rubbing the gas tank. Moving the board out an inch fixes both, and it takes about fifteen minutes.

The owner reports are unusually specific. A 2023 Street Glide ST owner used the 1 inch offset and says it is more comfortable and keeps his boots away from the hot pipes. A rider who is 6 foot 2 on a 2025 Street Glide used the 1.5 inch and moved his feet and legs away from the exhaust and the tank. A 2024 Road Glide owner in Canada reports his knee no longer rubs the gas tank. Another moved only the air-breather side out an inch, which is a neat trick if the heat is one-sided.

The fitment line on this listing contradicts its own customers. It states it is not compatible with the 2024 Road Glide, and multiple 2024 and 2025 Road Glide owners report using it without trouble. Treat that exclusion as unreliable in both directions and check clearances yourself.

Two real limits. If you run engine lowers, the two fight each other - a 2025 CVO Street Glide owner had to remove some of the spacer stack after fitting lowers to keep clearance. And the hardware is painted, which makes the bolts feel like the wrong size and hard to start.

Getting both offsets in one kit is the reason to buy this rather than a fixed spacer: you can try an inch, ride it, and go to 1.5 if you want more.

What owners report: on a 2025 Street Glide at 6 foot 2 he used the 1.5 inch offset and it moved his feet and legs away from the exhaust and the tank - stephen

Features
  • Two offsets in one kit, 1 inch and 1.5 inch
  • Moves feet and knees away from hot exhaust and the gas tank
  • 6061 CNC aluminium spacers with stainless steel hardware
  • Left and right specific, installs under the existing board
  • Installation manual included
  • Roughly a 15 minute job
Pros
  • Highest rated item in this guide at 4.7 from 448 ratings
  • Solves exhaust heat and knee rub in one part
  • Both offsets supplied so you can experiment
  • Cheapest meaningful comfort change here
Cons
  • Listing excludes the 2024 Road Glide while owners report it fitting
  • Conflicts with engine lowers, forcing spacers back out
  • Painted hardware makes the bolts hard to start
  • Extending outward reduces clearance on lowered bikes

Harvards Chrome Passenger Peg Mount Supports for Harley Softail 2018-2025
9

Harvards Chrome Passenger Peg Mount Supports for Harley Softail 2018-2025

4.8(6 ratings)

Passenger peg mount supports, CNC-machined clevis brackets that accept standard male-mount pegs and boards. All hardware including pins and springs included.

Harley Softail 2018-2025: Fat Boy 114 FLFBS, Heritage Classic 114 FLHCS, Softail Slim FLSL, Breakout 114 FXBRS, Low Rider S FXLRS, Fat Bob 114 FXFBS, Deluxe FLDE, Street Bob and others.

A small part that solves the single sharpest fitment problem in this whole category. From 2018 the Softail platform dropped the passenger peg mounts, which is why nearly every peg listing you read excludes 2018-later Softails outright. If you own one and want to carry a passenger, you need the mounts before you can buy the pegs.

These are the mounts. CNC-machined clevis brackets that bolt on in the OEM style and then accept any standard male-mount peg or board - including the two peg sets above.

Coverage is the full 2018-2025 Softail list: Fat Boy, Heritage Classic, Softail Slim, Breakout, Low Rider S, Fat Bob, Deluxe, Street Bob. One Canadian owner calls them pretty much universal with most passenger pegs and easy to install. Another describes the quality as amazing and the fitment great.

Set aside more time than you think for the pin and spring. One owner needed pliers and heat to compress the spring into place, and then added a spacer on top of the kit to take out peg play. It is a fiddly twenty minutes rather than a five minute bolt-on.

Two caveats to be straight about. There are only six ratings, so nothing here is proven under a heavy passenger over years. And the listing contradicts itself on material - the bullets say CNC-machined aluminium while the product table says alloy steel.

Even so, if you have a 2018-later Softail and no passenger mounts, this is the part that unlocks everything else on this page.

What owners report: installing the pin and spring was a pain and needed pliers and heat, but with a spacer added there is now zero play - jeffrey

Features
  • Adds passenger peg mounts to 2018-2025 Softails that lack them
  • Accepts standard male-mount pegs and floorboards
  • CNC-machined, OEM-style direct bolt-on
  • Pins, springs and all hardware included
  • Covers the full 2018-2025 Softail model list
Pros
  • Solves the 2018 Softail passenger mount problem directly
  • Compatible with most male-mount pegs and boards
  • Rated 4.8 by the owners who have fitted it
Cons
  • Only 6 ratings, so durability is unproven
  • Fitting the retaining pin and spring is genuinely difficult
  • A spacer is needed on top of the kit to remove peg play
  • Listing states aluminium in the bullets and alloy steel in the table

PBYMT Front Rider Floorboard Rubber Insert for Harley, Traditional Shape

PBYMT Front Rider Floorboard Rubber Insert for Harley, Traditional Shape

4.7(632 ratings)

Replacement rubber inserts for the stock rider floorboard pan, 4.1 x 11.8 in, non-slip rubber. Traditional and streamline patterns. Pair. No instruction sheet supplied.

2012-2016 FLD, 1986-2017 FL Softail, 1986-later Touring and Trike with traditional-shaped rider footboards. Does not fit the 2015 Street Glide.

Before you spend $130 on new boards, check whether the boards are actually the problem. On most older Harleys the pan is fine and only the rubber is dead: cracked, glazed, and no longer damping anything. A $36 pair of inserts brings the original board back.

632 ratings at 4.7 says this works. Owners report perfect fits on a 2001 Road King, a 2005 Road King and a 2009 Fat Boy, and the install is five to ten minutes with no other parts to buy. One rider says it lasted two seasons without issue and is more comfortable than the stock item.

The one job in this that is harder than it looks is getting the retaining nipples through the pan holes. A trike owner needed dish soap, needle-nose pliers, and his wife standing on the pads to pull each one through. Spraying a little lubricant on the pad, as the maker's own instructions suggest, is worth doing from the start. Note that no instruction sheet comes in the package.

On durability, be realistic. A daily rider saw cracks and the anti-vibration pads pushing through in under a year and went back to OEM, against the two to three years he got from the Harley item. If you ride every day in all weather, that is the trade you are making for the price. For a weekend bike it is a straightforward win.

One fitment note: the 2015 Street Glide is excluded despite the broad 1986-later claim.

What owners report: a daily rider saw cracks and the anti-vibration pads pushing through in under a year and went back to OEM, which lasted two to three years - Biker Rob

  • Enormous review base for a part this small
  • Confirmed perfect fits from 1996 through 2009 bikes
  • Two seasons of trouble-free use per one owner

  • Daily riders report cracks and pad breakthrough in under a year

Harley Floorboards and Foot Pegs - FAQs

What are the best floorboards for a Harley-Davidson?
It depends which position you are filling. For passenger boards on a Touring bike, a streamline set with a three-position angle bracket at around $85 has 951 ratings at 4.6, the largest review base in the category. For driver boards, a direct replacement for Harley part 50631-04 at around $116 gives you the factory shape with vibration-isolated inserts. If you want all four positions at once, a full driver and passenger set runs about $157. And if your feet are simply too close to the engine, a $33 extension kit may be all you need.
Can you put floorboards on a Dyna?
Yes, in the passenger position, and it depends on the mount in the rider position. Dynas use male-mount pegs, so any male-mount board or peg in this guide will bolt straight on where those supports exist. Rider floorboards are a bigger job on a Dyna because the factory mid controls are peg-based - you need a floorboard conversion bracket rather than just a board. Check whether your bike has male mount-style footpeg supports before ordering anything.
Where can I find chrome floorboards for my Harley-Davidson?
Chrome is available across most of this category, usually as a finish option within the same listing rather than as a separate product - the stretched driver boards here come in chrome or black, and the male-mount pegs come in chrome, black and matte black. Two things to know about aftermarket chrome at this price point: plating thickness varies, and one owner of a stretched chrome set reports scratches after the first ride. Chrome inserts on passenger boards are generally reported as matching OEM well.
Are floorboards better than foot pegs on a Harley?
For long rides, yes, and the reason is load distribution. A peg concentrates your weight on a narrow bar under the arch, a board spreads it across the whole sole and lets you move your foot without taking it off the bike. One maker quotes 35 percent more surface area than a standard peg. Pegs win on ground clearance, on weight, and on cost - a good male-mount peg set is $17 to $30 against $70 to $157 for boards. Riders who corner hard often keep pegs deliberately.
Do wider floorboards reduce ground clearance on a Harley?
In theory yes, but it is not what owners actually report. Across the ten products researched here, no listing states a lean angle figure and no reviewer described scraping the road. The clearance complaints are all about the board hitting the bike: on 2024 and 2025 Road Glides, three owners found long passenger boards striking the side panels when folded up. Separately, floorboard extensions and engine lowers conflict with each other, and one owner had to remove spacers after fitting lowers.
Why won't my new foot pegs stay tight?
Almost always because no washers or spacers came in the box. This is the most common install complaint in the category - one peg set ships with none, and another listing openly tells you to shim the clamps with your original washers. Save the washers and pins from your stock pegs, and have a few spares on the bench. A peg that has play will not pivot correctly and will work loose again however hard you torque it.
How do I fit passenger pegs to a 2018 or later Softail?
You need peg mount supports first, because from 2018 the Softail platform no longer provides passenger peg mounts - which is why peg listings exclude those years outright. A set of CNC-machined clevis brackets at around $34 bolts on in the OEM style and then accepts any standard male-mount peg or board. Coverage includes Fat Boy, Heritage Classic, Softail Slim, Breakout, Low Rider S, Fat Bob, Deluxe and Street Bob. Allow extra time for the retaining pin and spring.
Before you buy

The short version

  1. Identify your mount before you shop. Male-mount clevis, OEM floorboard bracket or streamline passenger bracket - they do not interchange.
  2. 2018-later Softail owners buy mount supports first, then pegs or boards.
  3. Read the exclusion line, not the year range. The 2015 Street Glide and the FLST accessory-mount note catch the most people.
  4. Harley passenger floorboards are the highest-value change on a bagger, for little money.
  5. If the complaint is heat or knee rub, buy extensions, not new boards.
  6. If the boards just feel dead, replace the rubber and keep the pans.
  7. Avoid swivel-type passenger boards on a 2024-2025 Road Glide unless you are happy to fit a travel stop.
  8. Have spare washers on the bench before you undo the first bolt.
